If your Toshiba label printer is not holding onto the label roll and is loosening after a few prints the issue could be caused by the green plastic lock arm coming loose or popping off the roll holder inside the printer.

"Green lock arm in roll assembly"
Checking the roll assembly and lock arm for faults
1. Ensure the printer is powered off, if any lights are on the printer hold the power button for a few seconds until the lights shut off.

2. Locate the Levers on the side of the printer and pull them both at once towards the front of the printer to release the printer's lid. Flip the lid open to access the roll assembly.

3. Remove the label roll if one is present. If the green lock arm is popped out of place, then the roll assembly's jaws should slide open and apart from each other very easily to release the roll.
4. Check the right-hand side of the roll assembly to verify that the green lock arm is present. If its loose or missing the jaws of the roll assembly will slide freely. If the arm is present and working properly than the arm must be pulled back towards the front of the printer in order to release the jaws and allow them to open and close.

If you have confirmed the green lever is missing or loose the following steps can help you resolve the problem.
Reinstalling the green lock arm
1. Ensure the spring on the green lever is connected properly, this spring holds tension on the arm to keep its teeth locked in the track below and ensures the roll assembly cannot move and loosen on the roll. One side of the spring hooks into the bottom left corner of the roll assembly and the other hooks into the green lock arm and when installed this spring is hidden behind the green arm.

2. Once the spring is connected to both the roll assembly and lock flip the arm over so that the spring is hidden by the arm and the toothed part of the arm is on the bottom and smooth lever is at the top.

3. Fit the bottom of the arm into the cut out at the bottom of the roll assembly so that the teeth of the track and teeth of the arm can mesh together.

4. locate the pivot pin on the roll assembly and hole on the top half of the lock arm. The pin slides into this hole and allows the arm to pivot in place on this pin. Line up the hole in the lock arm and pivot pin and slide the lock arm hole over this pin. You may have to pull the lever gently towards the front of the printer to ensure the tab on the lock arm clears the retainer on the roll assembly.

5. Your lock arm should now be installed in the roll assembly. If working properly the roll assembly jaws will only open and close when the lever is pulled back towards you to unlock the jaws.
